Brief: This is the story of Pete and Ae. It is also the story of Khaen and Tinn. It is a story about acceptance, misfortune, perseverance, and love.

Synopsis: The story centers on two primary couples. Pete, the son of a wealthy family, is a closeted gay first-year student at the International College. By chance, he meets Ae, a first-year engineering student, and their relationship unfolds from a random encounter into a heartfelt romance. Meanwhile, Ae’s friend Khaen, a sports science student, crosses paths with Tinn, another International College student and one of Pete’s friends. Their relationship evolves through an enemies-to-lovers arc based on both changes in mutual understanding and personal change.

While romance is at its core, the novel delves deeply into the emotional growth of each character and examines the contrasts in their emotional and sexual attractions. The main timeline covers their first two years of college, supplemented by flashbacks to their childhoods and special chapters that glimpse into their lives during the year after graduation.

The happy ending is realistic.

Adaptations: This novel was adapted into the Thai dramas Love by Chance (2018) and Love by Chance 2 (2020). Note though that the relationships between Techno, Kengkla, Tum, & Tar are not part of this novel.
