Perspective - Third Person
"I'm not going. I told you I'm not going. Can't you understand human language, Chomphu?!"
"If you can't understand, how can we talk? I don't care. I'm going to find Ae, and you have to go with me!"
"I said I'm not going! It's a waste of reading time!"
At this moment, many pairs of eyes turn to watch the two schoolgirls in their demo-school uniforms, one trying to drag the other while the other pulls back, making the scene both amusing and endearing. It seems that the girl doing the dragging starts to lose strength because she lets go of her grip, causing...
Thud!
"Ai Chomphu!"
"Oops, I'm sorry!" This causes the girl who is being dragged to fall and crash to the ground. She looks up, glaring furiously at her friend, who raises one hand, but the little tongue sticking out doesn't make onlookers feel that it is an apology at all.
"Come on, Lemon, stand still! You're embarrassing yourself!"
"Who's fault is that?!" Lemon, the girl with glasses and braided hair, grumbles through clenched teeth, growing angrier at her close friend, making Chomphu blink innocently but still find someone to blame.
"It's your fault for not going properly! This is what happens! Besides, it's really cruel of you, sister, to divide the snacks but not go cheer!"
The listener lets out a big sigh, looking at her closest friend now, before shaking her head in exasperation. The story really goes back to a month ago, or maybe even earlier.
Chomphu, this silly friend, told Lemon that she met a knight in armor, describing his appearance so well that Lemon thinks he's a celestial being descending from the heavens. That is until when Chomphu mentions he's on the football team.
That's when Lemon says goodbye and stops listening because those football team members are usually dark, burly, and sweaty like they've just dived into a pond! Ugh, she just can't accept that!
Just thinking about it makes her feel sick.
So, throughout the time her friend tries to drag her to meet the good Phii Ae, she shakes her head vigorously, insisting that she's not going (damn it). Plus, with all the school reports piling up lately, when Chomphu says she's going to see Phii Ae, Lemon locks her neck and says, "If you go… I won't put your name on the report."
This at least somewhat curbs Chomphu's craziness over boys.
But! Just the other day, Lemon accidentally let slip that she has "a brother on the university football team." That's how her fate seals her being dragged by Chomphu to watch the freshman sports competition as her friend.
"Whether they compete or not has nothing to do with me. If my brother wins, after all, my grades don't go up along with it at all," the diligent one says while adjusting her glasses, making her cheeks puff out even more.
"Fine, I won't go then, but I'm angry!" Saying that, Chomphu spins around and stomps off in another direction, causing the onlookers to let out another sigh.
"Fine, I'll go… wait for me, Chomphu!"
As soon as she says that, the sulking girl turns and beams a sweet smile, running to grab the arm of the one who looks so bored, heading straight toward the football field. Because for a girl with a beautiful name, she misses Phii Ae so much!
"There are so many people. Will you even find Phii Ae?"
"Of course! Phii Ae always stands out in Chomphu's eyes."
"I feel like throwing up."
"Wow, so messy! What about your brother?"
"I don't know. Forget about that brother with a brain the size of a pea," Lemon says, her eyes scanning everywhere behind her glasses. She starts to feel that it's worth it to follow her friend.
Hmm, the university kids' aura is so different from that of high school students.
"Until her gaze meets the shimmering aura of a certain creature, causing the girl to exclaim. Wow!" It seems this sound makes Chomphu turn to look as well, before breaking into a sweet smile.
"That's Phii Pete."
"Do you know him?"
"Uum, He's Phii Ae's close friend."
This answer makes the listener's eyes widen a little as she turns back to look at the handsome guy in his student uniform, which only adds to his charm. Not to mention his movie-star good looks, radiating an aura so bright it makes singers look dull in comparison. If someone said he was an actor, she would wholeheartedly believe it.
"Then I'll go ask Phii Pete where Phii Ae is," Chomphu says when she spots her target, stepping straight toward the senior in front of her, who seems to have separated from the crowd by the field, with her close friend following closely behind. However, before she can call out or get close, someone cuts in front of her.
Thump!
"Ouch, that hurts!"
"Ai Chomphu!!! Who is that?!" This causes Lemon to grab her friend's arm, squeezing tightly until Chomphu cries out in pain. The one squeezing doesn't care, only pointing toward the other handsome guy who walks up to Phii Pete.
Lemon exclaims, "Oh my god, he's totally my type!"
What a complete package of a guy—handsome, cool, great physique, and a standout aura!
"I don't know, maybe Phii Pete's friend... Hey, I'm going to find Phii Ae," Chomphu continues to sulk, determined to find her hero, prompting her close friend to shake her head vigorously while watching the two guys.
"Come here! If you want to find Phii Ae, you have to ask his friend!" Lemon says immediately, pulling out her trusty iPhone and holding it tightly. Her previously bored eyes now sparkle with excitement as she drags her friend after the two guys walking toward the field instead of heading to the spectators' seats.
~~~
"Why do we have to hide?"
"Shhh!!!" But just stepping into the radius where she can hear, Chomphu can only ask uncertainly, as her friend drags her to hide beside a car. When she asks, Lemon turns to put her finger to her lips, looking fierce, making Chomphu clamp her mouth shut and look in the direction of her friend's gaze.
She wants to meet Phii Ae, not to see Phii Pete talking to a friend!
"Is there something going on, Tinn?"
"Oh, that's his name, Phii Tinn's," Lemon murmurs softly while keeping her eyes on the two older boys, not wanting to miss a moment. She raises her iPhone, adjusting the zoom lens to get a closer look. Hm, the brother named Tinn seems a bit cold, while the brother named Pete looks warmer.
"I want to go out with you."
"Wha... squee!"
Screaming!!! The girl with glasses and braids nearly drops her iPhone and almost lets out a scream. Fortunately, she manages to cover her mouth just in time, ducking behind the car when Phii Tinn seems to hear and turns to look in surprise. Not seeing anyone though, he shifts his gaze back to Phii Pete, who appears clearly confused.
"Are you joking with me, Tinn?"
"I don't have time to joke around. I'm serious," Phii Tinn replies in a flat tone that leaves Lemon a bit stunned. However, she can't help but think that even when he's calm, he's really handsome!
Say yes, brother, say yes!
"We can't date, Tinn."
Phew!
The person cheering is so anxious that they feel disheartened, yet they still sneak glances without losing sight of the situation. Noticing that Tinn looks slightly displeased, they ask once more.
"So, it's still a no… even if I try to steal you away?"
The question surprises P'Pete for a moment, but he soon offers a faint smile. "You don't really like me like that, Tinn, you know. I'm just strange in your eyes. To me, Tinn, you are a friend."
Friends can do it too!
The cheering person tells themselves in their mind, anxiously waiting with cold, clammy hands. They are puzzled as to why Tinn's expression doesn't change at all. Their brain concludes that he must be the tsundere type... sad but doesn't show it, liking someone but only able to express it with vague sounds.
Oh, that's it!
The highschool girl, who seems like a studious type whom friends and teachers would never suspect, is a... fujoshi this year.
However, there is still Chomphu, someone a bit foolish, whispering a question in their ear. "Dating? Huh? How can guys date each other?"
Lemon turns sharply to look and meets the bright eyes of someone whose relationship with Tinn is a mystery to them. Almost about to explain, they stop because...
"Oh, hello it's me, Ai'Khaen! My dear sister! Here to cheer for your brother, huh!!!"
The loud, raucous voice of an Khaen makes the two people about to confess turn to look. They see a youth in a football uniform with single-lidded eyes and a smile like a toothpaste advertisement running towards his sister, while she can only groan in her throat.
"Phii Khaen!"
Here he comes! That foolish brother of mine! I really don't want to tell anyone I have such a silly brother!!!
To this extent, the young girl thinks with irritation, watching her older brother rush in to hug her shoulders, flashing a wide smile and talking nonstop, as if he didn't understand why their mother never let him speak when they were kids. Now he talks so much that even monkeys could fall asleep.
"I'm so happy! Yesterday, I told everyone at home that my department made it to the finals. You know, I'm a pro; my skills are on a different level. There's no way I'll let the football team's reputation down. Yesterday, you didn't seem to care. Why did you come today? Hey, stubborn little sister, if you wanted to cheer, you could've told me so I could ask my friends for special seating. For my beloved sister, I can handle anything!"
Thud.
"Enough." Just before Khaen can ramble on with excitement, his sister (who seems like a completely different species) raises her hand in front of him, calmly saying to stop.
This makes the talkative one quiet down. His gaze, which had only seen the sway of his sister's ponytail, begins to notice other things.
One is a girl with bangs who looks familiar. The second...
"Fucking shit-lizard!!!"
Khaen's hand points toward Tinn, but Lemon' looks at her brother with reptilian coldness and barely tries to hide her disdain.
Why can't I have a normal brother instead of this weirdo? Ugh!
However, at this moment, Khaen doesn't care about his only sister, who is three years younger than him. He stares at Tinn, then glances at Pete, who looks a bit taken aback by the overly polite (?) way he refers to his friend.
Hey, he's definitely up to something with Pete!
After processing this, Khaen takes two steps forward to block his friend and glares at Tinn with a confrontational stare.
"Hey you, what do you want with Pete? Stay the hell away from him!" The one who experiences the intense power of the mouth of this demon-kin says in a heavy voice, pushing Tinn's chest so that the latter steps back unexpectedly.
His single-lidded eyes glare fiercely as if to say, Don't mess with my friend!
However, Tinn rolls his eyes slightly and then turns to talk to Pete. "Pete, I really spoke the truth just now."
who stands behind this football player, as if he doesn't see the other person at all, making those who watch feel quite annoyed.
"Hey, I'm talking to you!"
"P'Khaen, what's wrong with you? You come here and immediately pick a fight with him like this!" The younger sibling speaks out without holding back, looking disapprovingly as if saying that the older one is too ill-natured, prompting the older one to frown.
"Don't let this two-faced demon-kin trick you, okay? I tell you, he's the biggest jerk I've ever met!" Khaen argues with his younger sibling relentlessly before turning to glare at the adversary again, making Lemon cover her face with her hands in embarrassment.
No matter how you look at it, it's obvious that her brother is the one provoking the fight.
"Khaen, Tinn hasn't done anything!"
Whoosh.
"I know you're a good person, but don't protect the wrongdoer, okay? He's picking a fight with you, right? I'll take care of it!!!"
"It's not that; it's…"
"He's not picking a fight, Phii. He's actually asking to date P'Pete."
Gulp.
However, at the moment when they still don't understand each other, everyone might forget about the little supporting character who has had no role for several chapters and is currently watching the scene in interest. When she sees that her friend's brother seems to misunderstand, she speaks up to clarify, even though she is still skeptical.
"So, is P'Pete gay? Or is P'Tinn gay? Is he secretly in love with P'Pete? And is P'Pete manly? Wait, or is it the other way around... I don't understand at all."
The words leave everyone in stunned silence... Lemon is surprised that her friend speaks without thinking. The older ones might want to keep it a secret, while Pete is astonished because he didn't expect his competitor for Ae's heart to hear. As for Tinn... he is realizing that the almond-eyed Khaen is going to be an endless source of trouble for him.
And Khaen, who is standing there wide-eyed, mouth agape, frozen in place, shouts…
"What!!!"
"I told you! He asked to date the other!" Chomphu, who sees Khaen's loudness, shouts back, all while glancing wide-eyed at Pete.
"P'Pete, are you gay?"
"Ai'Chomphu!!!" At that moment, the bespectacled girl yells, looking at her friend.
She knows Chomphu is a bit clueless, but she never thought she would be clueless enough to blurt that out. Now it's clear she's been eavesdropping and meddling in their business. So, she grabs Chomphu's arm and begins to pull her away.
"What is it, Le!?!"
"I thought you said you were looking for P'Ae! Move it... Good luck, Pete! You can do it!"
Lemon, without hesitation, drags her friend in another direction, avoiding looking back at any of the men standing there, afraid they'll be angry about the eavesdropping, even though her mind has already begun piecing together the details of the relationship.
Pete sees Tinn as a friend. Tinn sees Pete as something more, and now he's trying to woo him… Just wait and see. No matter how many stories there are, the guy always gives in eventually!
I should already be excited and saving the pics. Once they get together, I'll post them on Twitter! Everyone's gonna follow me!
Also, Khaen does have some good friends, huh? Normally, all I see are those gorillas on the football field.
The two girls walk away, but the three guys are still standing there. By the time Khaen manages to regain his senses, it's when Pete touches his shoulder and speaks in a dry voice.
"It's just a joke, Khaen. Nothing serious. You should go now. You've got a match."
"You go ahead. I saw Ae looking for you earlier," says Ai'Khaen more seriously than usual, speaking to the hesitant Pete.
Hearing Ae's name seems to make Pete more eager to leave.
"If you don't go, Ae will have no motivation to play, and if he loses to me, I'm not at fault. I told you, my goal has changed." Khaen speaks half-jokingly, leaving the listener momentarily speechless as he looks at his friend, unsure why he would come to support this year's futsal penalty shootout.
However, Tinn quickly confirms. "I've got something to talk about with this single-lidded-eye guy too."
"Bloody fucking cur, hey you have huge eyes!" snaps the one with an inferiority complex about his eyes.
Pete starts to smile. Maybe they're just starting to get along?
So, Khun-chai, radiating with charm, walks toward the field, leaving his two friends behind—who seem ready to tear each other apart. No, it's probably just Khaen baring his fangs. Someone like Tinn wouldn't just bark like a puppy; he'd rip his prey to shreds.
"So, what's the deal?" Khun-chai, now in his devilish form, cuts to the chase.
"What's with hey you, huh? Last week, hey you were calling my friend a disgusting gay, but now hey you're acting like this? What a coward. Swallowing your words, huh?"
"Before you start insulting me, I think you've forgotten something."
However, the one who needs to respond changes the subject, causing the other to narrow his eyes before they widen again as Tinn gives a small smirk.
"This is between me and Pete… Outsiders don't matter!"
Khaen feels like he's been punched square in the face. His eyes flare with anger as he grabs Tinn's shirt tightly.
"Yeah, I'm an outsider. I'm just sticking my nose in where it doesn't belong. But that's my friend, hey you! You said you hated and despised them, so why are you getting involved with them? Trying to create a rift, huh? There are plenty of other gay people out there. Go pick one of them! Don't mess with them!" Khaen shouts in Tinn's face.
He almost forgets he has a match coming up, while Tinn remains expressionless, replying in a calm voice.
"There's no one like Pete."
"But Pete already has a romantic partner, and that person is my friend!" Khaen presses on, causing Tinn to pause as if deep in thought.
"So, you want to protect your friend, huh?"
"Yeah!" Khaen says firmly, not intimidated at all, even as Tinn leans in closer. However, what happens next is something Khaen never expected.
"Then why don't you spread your legs for me instead?"
"Mmph!!!"
As soon as those vile words leave Tinn's mouth, he presses his lips forcefully against Khaen's. One hand grips Khaen's chin tightly, leaving him frozen in shock.
Not again!!!
Even though Khaen thinks this, his body remains paralyzed. Just then, something wet traces across his lips, causing his almond-shaped eyes to widen as big as goose eggs.
Smack!
The punch, not particularly hard but aimed to escape, lands on Tinn's cheek, snapping his head to the side. The hand gripping Khaen's chin releases, and Khaen takes several steps back. His small, furious eyes blaze with a fiery intensity as he spits out his next words.
"Go die, you bloody fucking cur!" he snarls, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand in utter disgust. He never thought someone would say something like that to him.
Rot in hell and let maggots feast on you!!!!
Whip!
Khaen spins around and runs toward the football field, not out of embarrassment, but because he's so angry that he fears he'll stomp Tinn into the ground if he stays. He doesn't want to lose control and get expelled. So, he decides to vent this fucking shit-lizard rage on the field instead.
Meanwhile, Tinn rubs his cheek, his sharp eyes following Khaen's retreating figure in jersey number six.
He murmurs softly to himself. "You are the first one to punch me in the face twice... Do you think I will let this go easily?"
At this moment, Tinn's attention is diverted back to Khaen once again, making it seem like the image in his head is not Pete but rather someone who is angry at him and wants to come and stomp him.
3-1
The nice scores displayed on the scoreboard indicate that one team wins while the other loses. Even if someone is not a fan of football or futsal, they can probably say that it's really hard to draw even. Therefore, the annual futsal championship final between the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Sports Science is underway.
The result of the match is...
"I lost... right?"
"Yeah, we lost."
"Us?!"
"Yeah, us! Which dog do you think we are?!"
"But we have future professional athletes, you bloody fucking cur!"
The result of the match made one team, who was wiping their sweat with the hem of their shirt looking defeated* (I've been wanting to know what this duck is like for a long time Khaen thinks), scream out in disbelief at what was happening, while their close friend nods and clearly says in their ear....
[[Translator's Note: ท่าทางเซ็งเป็ด (literally "bored duck") refers to an attitude of feeling defeated and disinterested, often conveying a sense of dissatisfaction or lack of enthusiasm.]]
"Yeah, we are Sports Science! We lost to Engineering! And you know what?! We lost three to one!... The scores were pretty close. Oh, and you played like someone without a soul. Do you realize how many times you passed the ball to them by mistake?" Upon being asked like that, Good, a teammate from the same faculty, turns to tell Khaen in a noticeably annoyed tone, causing the listener to clench his fists tightly.
"I'm sorry," Khaen bows his head in remorse.
Yes, today the Faculty of Engineering has won the futsal championship after losing to Sports Science for two years. The sound of cheering from the crowd resonates, and the drums beat loudly, causing people on this side to exchange glances.
"Are you okay?" a friend asks with concern for someone who should be exuberantly chasing the ball like a madman, but today he runs a bit, stops a bit, and seems lost in thought. However, it can't all be blamed on him; everyone played poorly today.
"I am!"
"Come on, winning or losing is normal. And this is just a university sport. Let it go!"
"I'm not pissed off about losing; I'm angry at the guy who made me lose! Damn!!!"
However, there's no need to wait for a friend to comfort him. Khaen speaks in a strong tone, grinding his teeth in anger, his hands trembling with rage, wanting to smash it into someone's face. It's definitely the one who made him furious before stepping onto the field.
"What do you mean?" Ai'Good asks.
Khaen clenches his fist and gestures as if throwing a punch into the air.
"Remember this.... Ai'Tinn Metthanun is the arch-enemy of Ai'Kirakorn!!!"
After saying that, the speaker wanders out of the field, leaving his friends scratching their heads.
"Who is he talking about?"
"Yeah, I don't know either."
That's right; who the hell is Khaen mad at?
~~~
"Congratulations!"
"But your face looks like you're not fully happy about it."
At the same time, Pete is speaking to the winner with a slight smile. However, the worried look on his face makes it clear to the person he's talking to as he glances toward the other side of the field, where the other team is sitting and letting out deep sighs.
"I wanted Ae to win, but I didn't want Khaen to be upset."
"Exactly. Khaen going all quiet isn't like him." Ae also notices Khaen, the loud friend, storming off angrily.
After all, Khaen had high hopes for the match, so it's only natural he'd be deeply disappointed. Ae had noticed from the beginning that Khaen seemed off.
On the field, it was clear Khaen lacked focus, though Ae couldn't quite figure out why.
"Don't worry about it. Pheuak Monkey never stays upset for long. By tomorrow, he'll be back to his usual antics." P'Techno injects.
"Phii No…"
At that moment, a senior teammate, who had been an opponent today, walks over with a smile.
Before saying anything else, he jokes, "You wrecked my team, Ae. But I’ll let it slide if you can play like this in the university league next term," Techno says, speaking not only as a senior in the Sports Science Faculty but also as the captain of the university football team. "But still, in about a week, you'll be back at it again, and I'll be stuck breaking up your fights."
"Sorry, man. Who exactly is the one breaking up fights, you or me? You're just standing there pointing fingers," Type, hands in his pockets, jokes back at his close friend, who gives him a mock glare.
"Because I'm the captain."
"Yeah, yeah, captain… Hey, Ae, do you know what's up with Khaen today? He's been acting strange." Type turns to ask his junior, who only shakes his head.
"No, Phii, but it's obvious something's bothering him."
"Whatever it is, forget it. By the way, where are you celebrating your victory? The pub behind the uni? Count me in…"
Ae pauses for a second before calmly pointing his thumb over his shoulder. "They're going, but I'm not."
"Huh?" The seniors are surprised.
The short guy glances over at his romantic partner, who stands quietly after having already given a respectful wai to the two seniors. Then, deciding to be straightforward, he speaks up. "I'm getting ready to visit my romantic partner's family, Phii."
"What?!" That's all it takes for the listener to shout loudly, looking at the short guy in disbelief. Ae, now taking off his sweat-soaked shirt and quickly wiping himself with a towel, repeats it, confirming, "You heard me right. This weekend, I'm going to meet my partner's mother."
With that, he walks off to pack his things, not bothering to answer any more questions. Most importantly, Inthach doesn't want anyone to see how red his ears have become.
"So, who's his romantic partner, Pete?" And just like that, the two seniors turn their attention to the handsome guy.
"I... I don't know."
"Hey, are you okay? You're not getting heatstroke, are you? Your face is as red as if someone painted it!"
"Heh... Maybe I've been in the sun too long," Pete replies awkwardly before lowering his head and following Ae.
How could he possibly explain to the seniors who Ae's romantic partner is? How could he admit that the romantic partner in question is... w-well, it's him?
