“Go all out, man! Tonight, I treat!”
Inside a pub with a bustling atmosphere not far from the university, two handsome young men sit together at one table. In the middle is one round of liquor, mixers, ice, and a complete assortment of snacks. The mixed-race youth makes eye contact with his friend, also narrowing his eyes slightly.
“What mood is this, calling me out to drink liquor as a companion, Wá?”
“Well, I still have not repaid you at all for you helping me last time, Ná.”
“That matter from last month. You better tell me what you want me to help with this time.” Shin nods to the person who mixes the liquor and hands it to him.
The person who invited him himself laughs loudly, liking this red-headed guy precisely because he sees through everything, but still finds it funny.
“Hey, I can invite you to drink even if there is no reason, you know, Wôoi.”
“But it definitely is not the way you would treat me.” Shin says while raising the liquor up for a sip.
He looks at the comfortable atmosphere where most people come in large groups. He has felt strange since walking into the pub and then seeing Sun sitting alone. Every other time, he practically has been Miss Thailand, knowing how to greet people at every bloody fucking table.
“And today, you are not guarding your Miia or what, Wá? I see you are desperately infatuated.” Shin adds further jokingly. Ever since he was dragged out of the department room by Phîi Ryu, he has been fidgety, sitting and stroking that cat-ear hairband of his for days on end. Plus, his face... he does not even what what he has been doing.
“Well, that is exactly the matter why I called you out.” Finally, Sun explains, and also gives a wide smile. Shin shakes his head, amused.
Yeah, no matter concerning his Miia, I probably cannot expect free things from you, right?
“Why is the kitten disobedient?”
“However disobedient he is, I can tame him, man, I'm the one...”
“Then I go back.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, friends, Khráp! I am joking. Sit, Khun Chonnon, sit, sit.” As soon as the mixed-race guy acts like he will get up from the table, Sun changes his words immediately, making a gesture for him to please sit. This makes the person who was about to go home laugh softly, along with the person who finally begins to tell his own problem.
“It is like this, Âi'Shin. You know about the matter where Phîi Ryu's Phîi came to find me, right? But I have not yet told you that Phîi offered a proposal that if I want to date Phîi Ryu, one... I must appease Phîi Ryu myself and succeed, two... This semester break, I must go to Chiang Mai so that his family gets to know me...”
“Then what? Phîi did not say he would make you break up in Chiang Mai. It sounds acceptable.” Shin frowns slightly, looking at the guy who heaves a heavy sigh. He just now sees Âi'Sun acting this worried. Before this, when Phîi Ryu came to throw a tantrum, he could still smile brightly.
“But it is a delicate matter, you know, Wôoi. Try thinking, what if his parents do not accept me, Lâ?”
“Then why not consult Âi'Dear? Âi'Dear also has a Phîi." The mixed-race youth asks curiously, and that makes Sun shake his head and also wave his hand strongly, making a face like a useless puppy.
“I guard my idol like a dragon guards its egg. You know I can drag it out to drink liquor, who will come pick it up? Another thing.... Do you think that Jae Dream accepted because Âi'Dear handled it himself, Wá? I heard that Âi'Dear got with Phîi Porsche because Jae Dream was the one who set the fire from the start, man.”
“Then you go consult Jae Dream.”
“That is like sending me to my death.” Sun immediately makes a scared face, making Shin laugh heartily, truly enjoying their matter.
“And what do you think I can help you with? My house might accept what I am, but I have never gone to introduce myself to anyone's house either.”
“In the position that you have more experience, you can definitely help me.” Âi'Sun still insists on his original statement, making the person with high flight hours spin the liquor glass in his hand thoughtfully with a manner like a Khun-chai, making the young women at the nearby tables almost make heart eyes. Sun also laughs softly.
Who exactly is the department's moon between him and me, Wá?
“Then you just buy gifts to give, behave well, do not tease Phîi Ryu in front of his parents... then, I guess.” Shin shrugs, out of ideas to help. The matter of seducing to get together is not difficult, but this kind of adult thinking matter, he really has no idea.
“Gahhh! I do not need that kind of advice, Wôoi!”
“Hmm.” However, as soon as Shin says it simply, the listener pauses a bit, starts narrowing his eyes to look at his friend, and then sees that those eyes that look more serious than normal are sparkling gleefully, making him feel provoked. The corner of his mouth therefore lifts into a cunning smile.
“So, what kind of advice do you need?” This time, the listener immediately leans his head in.
“You know then, right, that this semester break I will get to live under the same roof as Phîi Ryu.”
“And..."
“Oh, Âi'Shin, Jà. You try thinking. In the daytime, I must be stressed to death handling his house. At night, I must find a way to relieve stress, you know, Wôoi. In the position that you have more experience, you recommend to me what to do so it will be exciting under the nose of Phîi Ryu's beautiful Phîi... You understand me, Ná.” At the end of the sentence, Sun says cheerfully, making Shin laugh.
“Has anyone told you that.... You are a despicable-person, Wá?"
“Phîi Ryu scolds me every morning, afternoon, and evening, Lâe.”
There is not even a sense of guilt. Certainly, this guy who is consulting is not stressed about his romantic partner's house at all. He is more stressed about what to do during his time in Chiang Mai. He does not know if he will die or not, he only knows that he has already found a way to sneak into his Miia's room.
However, instead of the person who scolds warning that if he gets caught, they will be done for together, Shin immediately lifts his mobile phone, taps a few times, and holds it out in front of his close friend.
“This one, right?”
“Whoa, is it the real thing, Wá?"
He uses his brain. “It is probably a fake one.” Shin grins, letting the listener grab the phone to look, and then scratches his chin.
“Is it new, man? I have wanted to try this for a long time.”
“It is new. What kind of thing does anyone use together? And if you want my recommendation, a Miia like yours, this type is enough.” Shin scrolls the screen another time, while the person looking smiles brightly, his eyes instantly becoming sparkling, the way that now getting goosebumps is not wrong, before turning to tell the person next to him in a loud, clear voice.
“Âi'Shin, Jà! I fucking love you so much, Wá!!!" Plus, he acts like he will lunge in to hug again, making Shin hold his friend's face away, shaking his head at the department's moon, even though his heart is also having fun along with it. For Âi'Sun, sitting demurely is not his style; his style must be like this. As for Âi'Dear, just thinking is funny; if he were here, his face would be red again and again, his mouth muttering that it is disgusting, but his eyes would not look away from the screen, as if he got Sun, Lâe.
“Good that I did not call Âi'Dear. If I corrupt Phîi Porsche's junior, he would definitely kill me.”
“Or he would give you a reward, if Âi'Dear is the one who takes the thing to play with himself.” Shin's voice makes the listener laugh, but he continues to admire the picture in his hand.
Unlike Sun, who raises his liquor for a sip, his eyes sweep to look around the pub, starting to aim at the empty stage that plays music from the sound system instead of having a singer. But then, his eyes turn to see a certain person.
Skreek
“Wait, I will be right back, Âi'Sun.”
“Yeah, yeah, what, Wá? You have not drunk half a glass of liquor, did your pipes burst already?” Shin does not listen to him speak because he pulls the mobile phone from his hand, his long legs taking himself to the back of the pub immediately. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees that the person sitting in another corner follows. A pair of sharp eyes flashes a stressed glint for a split second that his friend is also in the pub, but just a moment.... it changes to fun.
You think to pick a fight with me? Then you will know what it is like to pick a fight with the wrong person.
I am at the pub. He comes to my territory, man...
Shin looks down at the telephone that sends a message to a certain person, thinking that if he sees it, it is good; if he does not see it, it is fine, before stuffing it into his pants pocket. He walks, cutting through to the back of the pub where a few cars are parked, and then it goes as expected when he sees who stands smoking, leaning against a familiar-looking car.
“Hey, Âi'mixed-race.”
“Is this how people with manners greet each other? I just found out.” Shin grins back, looking at Âi'Max who still fills his lungs with smoke, even though his face is irritated from being scolded by him. After that, he drops the cigarette onto the ground, then uses his toe to stub it out hard, as if to intimidate.
“You should not be so mouthy. Be careful, or you will end up like that under my foot.”
Shin wants to shake his head. If he is really tough, he would not waste time talking or threatening him; he would have charged in already. But as they say, he might be confident because he brought two other guys with him, not counting his friend who stands behind him with another person.
Four against one... It is not strange that he is just a loser dog in anyone's eyes.
The pitiful thought that passes through his gaze is a bit too much because Shin sends a mocking smile, without any scared manner at all, until the person who is resentful enough to think about attacking the person of Âi'Oat gets blood rushing to his face.
Grab
“What the shit-lizard are you smiling at!" He yanks his shirt collar with full force.
“My mouth is my mouth. I will smile, and does it weigh heavily on your foot or what?" Shin thinks he has been with Âi'Sun a bit too much, to the point of receiving this much of his annoying fucker-ness, and that makes the other party grit his teeth.
“Do not be mouthy with me.”
“Sigh, better state your business. I will go back to eating free stuff. My friend will treat me once in a while.” Then, Nǎai Chonnon says boredly, sending his hand to remove the hand that is gripping his shirt collar, but that makes Max have even more blood rush to his face. Last time, he was thrown down in the middle of the racing field; today, he is still an annoying fucker to him, even though he sees how disadvantaged he is.
“Do you think I will forget or what, Wá, what you did at the field?” Shin raises an eyebrow a bit, acting like he is thinking, as if he cannot remember, for a moment, before dragging his voice long.
“Ohhhhh, the time you ended up piled up like a dog on the ground, right?”
Whoosh
“I will tell you something for you to know...." Max yanks until Shin comes close to his body. His eyes gleam with resentment, forcing his voice out through his teeth.
“I will beat you to a pulp and then use you to lure Âi'Oat out. This time, both you and your Phûa will know how I feel.” The threat along with the face that is only a span apart does not make Shin scared besides… Laughing.
The laughter that echoes throughout the deserted parking area, the laughter that is full of amusement, the way Max freezes, looking at the red-headed guy as if he has lost his mind that he can still laugh in a situation like this, not knowing if he is so scared he has gone crazy. But just a moment later, Shin stops laughing.
“When will you stop barking?”
“Âi'shit-lizard!!!"
Thwack!
As soon as the insulting words end, the listener gets blood rushing to his face. A heavy fist smashes full force into the mixed-race youth's cheek. But instead of making Shin dazed, he himself lifts a fierce smile, pushing his tongue in his mouth that feels the metallic taste of blood before turning sharply back to look.
Thwack!
A heavy fist smashes full force into Âi'Max's face as a signal for their friends who are watching for an opening to rush in and lock both of Shin's arms. But becoming the underdog does not make Shin scared because he himself lifts his leg and kicks full force into the stomach of the person rushing in immediately, until he falls crash onto the ground, the sound of his cry ringing out. Unlike the person being ganged up on who is telling himself... fun.
Heh heh, I have not raged like this since middle school.
“Has Âi'Shin shit himself or what, Wá? Or did he take someone else again?”
Sun remains sitting alone at the table, at the time when several seniors walk in to greet him and invite him to sit together. Even after he goes to drink free for a glass, he still does not see his mixed-race friend return to the pub. Even after he returns to sit at the table until friends come to sit and chat with him, he still does not see him. But at the time he is about to call to check if he went home first, two familiar-looking seniors rush into the pub.
The first one has a super shit-faced look; the second one is super pointed.
“Âi'Oat, calm down, man.”
“Calm down what shit-lizard, Lâ!” The former Head wáak says to Phîi Sai-fah, making Sun raise an eyebrow a bit, becoming interested in the person who scans his eyes around the pub before turning to see him.
"Sun..."
“Âi'Dear is not here, Phîi. He is with his romantic partner.” As soon as the seniors rush in, his friend-protecting gland acts up; his mouth tells them immediately, thinking the other party is worried about his little friend again for sure, until he cannot help feeling a little irritated, wondering why they are so involved with my friend. However, the answer that comes out of his mouth makes him freeze.
“Where is Shin!?”
“Why is it him?” Sun retorts immediately, since he has never seen these two have a close manner at all, until the matter from several days ago flashes into his head.
The day he argued with Phîi Ryu, he heard that.....
“Hey, Phîi and he...."
“Where is Âi'Shin? Tell me right now!!!” Before he can even finish asking, Oat firmly grabs both of Sun's shoulders, making the person who is piecing the story together freeze, looking at the other party's distressed expression with bewilderment, the same as the people in the pub who start shifting away because they think there will be trouble.
“He walked to the back of the pub. He has not returned yet..."
Whoosh
As soon as he knows the answer, Oat immediately rushes in the direction told, the way Sun also stands dumbfounded, but he manages to grab Phîi Sai-fah's shoulder in time.
“What is this matter, Phîi!?"
“If you want to know, then follow.” Sai-fah does not answer, besides telling loudly over the music, making Shin turn to tell the youth in the pub he is close with, “I will be back to settle the bill for that table.”
After saying that, he runs after the two seniors who disappear towards the back of the pub. Then, just stepping out from the wall that separates the outside from the music inside, the sound of loud cries mixed with the sound of flesh hitting flesh cuts through the air, making Sun's heart skip a beat, his eyes wide open.
“Âi'Shin, Jà!!!” Sun immediately rushes after, passing in front of the two seniors who stand still in place, wondering why they do not go in to help his friend. But then, the department's moon becomes frozen in place.
“Hey!!!” Sun can only cry out one word, the sound making the red-headed youth look up and then raise his hand to greet.
“Hey, man. You are late.”
Shit-lizard, then. Did Âi'Shin finish them all?
The image of several people lying piled up on the ground, some holding their own stomachs, another one, the mixed-race guy is still pulling a shirt collar up from the ground, while he himself is in a condition just as battered, shirt torn, Hair messy, blood flowing from the corner of his mouth, plus half his face, but... it looks fucking good.
At this time, the light from the pub hits his bright red hair that hides one part of his face with the darkness, only seeing the lips that grin with satisfaction, plus having a BG of people scattered at his feet. This Âi'Sun says outright... a war god, clearly.
After that, Shin releases his hand from the shirt of the person he is holding, then turns to look at the senior.
“You are late, Phîi. A full half hour..."
“Watch out!” Before Shin can even finish speaking, Oat sees Âi'Max, who has gotten up and rushes to attack the person who has his back turned, until he has to rush in to pull Shin, who now stands leaning to the side, making the aptly named sneak-attack dog rush towards Sai-fah, who is quite surprised, but he lifts his leg to block in time.
Crash
"Ouch!!!"
“Ouch, my leg went crack, Lâ.” Sai-fah complains, looking at the person who impacts the sole of his foot that he pushed with just enough force, until he falls to the ground, the sound of his cry ringing loudly. At the same time, Oat also pulls the mixed-race junior to turn back to make eye contact, until he sees his extremely angry gaze.
“Are you crazy, Chonnon! Coming out to fight with them alone! What do you think you are?”
“So what? Phîi is late.” Shin says tiredly, not thinking to yell back at the person who, just by looking, he knows feels guilty. But he came out on his own. Another thing, he is not hurt much. His nonchalant manner makes Oat rub his head hard and then point to the ones lying piled up.
“If they had not come only this many, what would you do? Let them practice on you or what!!!"
“Phîi Oat.” But then, Shin speaks up to interject calmly, raising his hand in a forbidding manner, and then asks a question that the listener can only stand stunned.
“And what does Phîi think you are to have the right to worry about me.... You are not my Phôo, you are not my romantic partner. I am sorry, but I can take responsibility for myself.” Shin says, cutting off the problem.
He knows the other party is a person who worries a lot, worries even about people who are not anything to each other. And right now, he is too irritated to deal with anyone's face.
Even though he got exercise, he is not psychotic to the point of being punched and then saying it is just a piece of cake. And another thing, right now he is fucking irritated.... Being called the Miia of the senior in front of him is not enough; when he thinks about the truth that they are not anything to each other, he wants to exercise by punching these guys another time.
Crash!
“Ouch!!!"
“Do not think to come find trouble with me again... Go, Âi'Sun, the ice has melted completely.” Shin turns to kick crash full force into the ribs of the person lying there, then turns to call his friend who still has not lost his shock, his eyes full of questions he is too lazy to answer. But Sun agrees to store his suspicion for now, then follows his mixed-race friend inside, leaving the two seniors to be there alone.
“Âi'Oat, what will you do?” Sai-fah asks while looking at Âi'Max's friends who take the opportunity while they are talking to grab their friends and run far away. But he still stands, controlling the stance of the guy who is coughing while lying on the ground, and that makes Oat bend down over the body of the person lying there.
Grab
“If you do anything to that youth again one more time... Do not say I did not warn you!” Oat whispers to Âi'Max with a fierce voice, before pushing him with full force, then turns to tell his close friend.
“You take this and send it to Phîi Pakin. Tell him everything about what shit-lizard things this guy did... Phîi Pakin favors Shin; he probably will not allow him to be ambushed and played with like this.” The words make even Max open his eyes wide, not thinking that annoying fucker red-headed guy would be liked by Pakin. Meanwhile, Sai-fah accepts the words, at the time he lifts the telephone to call his twin who said he would follow.
“You go. If you are worried about him, then go. I can handle this place.” Sai-fah says simply, making the listener freeze immediately, just realizing that his own gaze is cast into the pub.
“I am not worried. He can take care of himself."
“Do not lie to yourself.” Sai-fah says jokingly, the moment his pointed friend who was helping with the semester project saw the message on the phone, he ran out without thinking. Other people might think Âi'Oat worries about every junior, but for him, he is so close with him that he sees the difference.
Âi'Oat worries about that youth.... a lot, too.
“I.. Sigh.” Oat heaves a sigh, before slapping his friend's shoulder heavily, then steps into the pub without thinking to argue anything at all, telling himself that he worries about him because he took him to meet Âi'Max.... that is all.
“Whoa, in this condition, you can still drink liquor, man.”
Sun looks at his friend who uses one hand to hold ice against his cheek, the other hand still holding the liquor he mixed for him, the way the listener also laughs, before making a pout that agitates his wound.
“Well, it is free, Ná.”
“Yeah, Âi'Sun, word for word. Today, I treat you myself. Celebrating the fleeting moment I saw a war god descend to be incarnated in you.”
"That much?"
“Yeah, I am so fucking amazed. Three against one...”
“Four. One of them escaped.” Sun can only cry 'ooh-hoo'. He thinks that this mixed-race friend is not ordinary, but who would think, even with a matter this big, he still beats them until they are subdued.
“Then you must go meet Âi'Mai, my friend. That guy also has trouble every single day, has a stronger alcohol tolerance than me. In high school, he is the one who made me run away from the discipline teacher.” Sun says jokingly, the way the listener narrows his eyes a bit, moves his jaw that stings a little, before opening his mouth to ask curiously.
“And, will you not ask me what happened?” The listener laughs softly at the question before waving his hand back and forth.
“You are not Âi'Dear, Ná. Since I have known you, you can take care of yourself. If you want to tell, you will tell me yourself. But if it is about Âi'Dear, I must interfere because I must help; he cannot often save himself.” Shin even laughs, before hissing in his mouth, pressing the ice against his own cheek a bit more. What to do? Since middle school, he has not been punched like this, Ná. His skills have been out of the industry for a long time.
“I am starting to want to meet Âi'Mai, your friend, then.” This group of friends is bloody fucking interesting.
“Yeah, then, this semester break, do you want to go on a trip with us? Four days, three nights. They come as the whole gang, man. And you will know what a handsome group is like.” Shin raises an eyebrow a little, the way the listener wants to laugh but can only lift the corner of his mouth and say amusedly.
“If Âi'Dear will call it handsome."
“Heh heh, Handsome in a cute style, man. Young women approach in a flood, saying... which one in this group can I have as a Phûa, Khá?” Then Sun alters his voice jokingly, making Shin imagine it and see it clearly.
“Yeah, then I will go too...”
“I will sit with you too."
Thud
Just as he accepts his friend's words, the person he does not really want to talk to much comes to sit next to him, the way Sun mutters that his mood to drink is gone. He understands that he is displeased that this senior is involved with Âi'Dear without stopping, but right now, he also feels equally irritated.
Am I as fragile as Âi'Dear, that you have to come to take care of me?
“I cannot not interfere in this matter. What is going on with you and Phîi Oat? Taking turns stabbing like you said or what, Wá?” Sun blurts out immediately, not caring what the senior will think, and that makes Shin turn to make eye contact with the person sitting next to him and then heave a sigh.
“Well, if Phîi Oat is okay, then I am okay, hee.” Then he makes another sound in his throat, making Oat frown.
“No need to make a face like... again or what, this youth is talking about getting on the bed again. It is okay, Phîi Oat.” Then Shin says amusedly, relieving his irritation a bit. He does not understand himself either, why he is displeased when the other party acts like he is worried, plus always comparing himself to his little friend.
He knows what a person like this is like, personality-wise.
“No. I just want to ask why you do not go to the doctor. Why are you still sitting and drinking here?”
“I was just punched, Khráp. It is not a car accident.” He inevitably retorts, making Oat heave a sigh, a big one. He understands it is just being punched; if it were him, he would not go either.
“Then, today, I will take you.”
“And I was just punched, Khráp. I am not disabled and cannot drive.”
“Will you die if you do not retort one matter?” Oat heaves another sigh, making Shin laugh, and then his wound hurts, until he waves his hand in a manner of being too lazy to argue. Meanwhile, Sun looks at the scene that occurs with a thoughtful gaze.
Phîi Oat looks different from when he is with Âi'Dear; he knows that is because Phîi likes his little friend.
But the atmosphere when he is with Âi'Shin is also different from other juniors.
A comfortable manner, not strict as a Phîi wáak, and also not overly gentle and kind. It looks... like it is really natural.
What matter does this pair have, Wá?
“And now, what will you do? Will you go home with a bruised face? Do you want to go sleep at my place?” This time, Shin is silent for a bit. Really, Having a matter to go home, no one would blame him. But when his friend asks, one thought flashes into his head.
“It is okay. I think I have a place to sleep.”
Thinking is not enough; Shin also turns to flash a smile at the senior another time, the way that makes Oat accidentally think of the image of him using his mouth for him. However, he quickly brushes it away, then tells himself that it is Shin's own fault that he got punched. Just going to sleep in his room.... It should be okay.
