นาย (Nai)

The Thai word นาย (Nai) is a multifaceted term. Its primary meaning is a formal title for a man, equivalent to "Nai" However, it is also used to mean "boss" or "superior." In modern informal speech, it can be used among male friends similarly to "dude" or "man," but crucially, it can sound condescending or highlight a power dynamic if used by someone of a higher status to address a subordinate.
