ไอ้ (Âi)

The Thai word ไอ้ (Âi) is a versatile and frequently informal prefix. When used before a person's name, noun, or pronoun, it is often derogatory, rude, or conveys strong disrespect, similar to adding "bloody" or "fucking." However, it can also be used neutrally or affectionately among very close friends, or when referring to objects and animals, where it simply functions as a casual demonstrative without negative intent. The tone is entirely dependent on context.
